LEE JUDD

Consultant

Lee Judd, a Consultant with the Lipton Group, brings a diverse range of experience as a Business Manager, Project Manager and Consulting Engineer in the United States and Australia.

Most recently Lee was the General Manager of a large wholesale plant nursery with US$52 MM in sales annually. Lee managed all aspects of the business, including field operations, distribution, sales and customer relations. This business employs up to 900 people during peak season (spring), including 45 drivers and 80 sales professionals. In peak-season Lee’s site shipped $11.5 MM of plants in a three-week period for sale throughout the United States and Canada. Lee worked with senior executive staff to define and lead the implementation of major strategic initiatives and to coordinate operations of his nursery with the other four west-coast nursery operations of the company. Lee managed and developed nine direct reports that varied in experience from new hires to professionals with over 30 years experience.

Prior to becoming General Manager, Lee led a variety of financial projects, including evaluation, due-diligence and integration for corporate acquisitions throughout the United States. During these projects Lee developed, implemented and documented new processes for integrating new sites to the company’s Information Systems and accounting processes. Lee also participated in preparation of the company for its Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Lee has extensive experience in Project Management gained on a wide variety of business and engineering projects, ranging from multi-billion dollar capital works projects to Information Technology projects.

As a Consulting Engineer, Lee was responsible for engineering studies and preparation of reports used in permitting documents for dam, reservoir and hydroelectric projects with construction costs in excess of US$2 billion. As well as performing engineering analyses Lee was instrumental in developing an innovative public involvement plan that used a detailed group-based decision model to document and support the selection of the preferred project configuration. Lee’s role included being the client’s engineering representative on a large, multi-party public working committee. This public involvement process led to the successful permitting of a major ($550 million) water resources project in 1996, when it was no longer believed that major water resources projects could be permitted in California. Lee also has extensive experience in supervising the construction of major engineering projects.

Lee has earned an M.B.A. from California State University, San Marcos, an M.S. (Civil Engineering) from Utah State University, and a B.E. (Civil Engineering with Honors) from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Lee has been a Registered Professional Engineer in both the United States and Australia, and has written several technical papers describing methods for reaching consensus between disparate groups involved in selecting and permitting major capital works projects.
